About Credential House

Updated Nov 6, 2026

Credential House is an independent reference for people who need to pass a licensing exam or a specialty certification exam. It is free to read, it sells nothing, and it is not connected to any body that writes, delivers or grades these exams.

A license is not a certification

The site is arranged by field because the exams in it do different jobs. Some are a legal gate: a state will not let you work until you pass. Others are voluntary board credentials that an employer may ask for. Which kind you face changes what to read first, so each overview says it plainly:

  • Mortgage loan originator test: required for state-licensed MLOs in every state; separate state test components were eliminated in 2018.
  • Life and health insurance exam: required to sell life and health insurance in the state; the exam is one step of the license.
  • Wound Care Certified: a voluntary certification for licensed clinicians; it does not expand your scope of practice.
  • Certified Wound Specialist: a voluntary board certification for licensed clinicians, not a license.
  • Certified Flight Paramedic: a voluntary certification for paramedics, not a license; CAMTS-accredited services require FP-C or CCP-C after 2 years of employment for critical care transport paramedics.

Five pages per exam, one job each

Every exam has five pages, and each one has its own job.

The overview covers eligibility, renewal and a short quiz. The practice test is a longer free set where the correct choice and every wrong one are explained separately; the flight paramedic practice test is one example. The study guide walks through the content outline one area at a time, with its weight, the mistakes it tends to draw and a few sample items. The exam facts page lists length, timing, scoring and retake rules; for life and health it becomes a state-by-state table. The registration page covers booking, test locations and every fee on the way to a license, as on the mortgage test registration page.

What stays with the exam owners

Applications, eligibility decisions, appointments, score reports and certificates belong to the body that runs each exam and to its test vendor. Credential House cannot see your NMLS record, your state application or your board file, and it cannot change a date or a result. For the right desk for each of those, see contact.

Things this site leaves out

  • Advertising, affiliate links, sponsored rankings or paid placement of any kind.
  • Items copied from live exam forms or rebuilt from candidates' memories of them.
  • A course or a textbook. Study guides map the outline and its pitfalls; the reading itself is yours.
  • Bylines. The site publishes under its own name and shows its method instead: the editorial policy for facts and how we review for questions.
  • Any claim to speak for NMLS, a state insurance department, NAWCO, ABWM or IBSC. When their current documents differ from a table here, theirs are right.
